Renewable energy for the future

Today many countries try to develop alternative energy. Out of alternative energy, developing renewable energy is considered the most suitable methods for the human’s future.
Until now, humans have used oil as a main energy source. However, human are forced to meet serious environmental problems due to oil. Climate change due to global warming is threatening human’s future, so many countries began to pursue sustainable development. Next, high oil prices due to remit of oil reserves drive many nations to have an interest in renewable energy. Although nuclear energy has the high energy efficiency and cost-effectiveness, it always has a potential danger to threat human’s life. Therefore, people prefer to environmentally friendly renewable energy.
Renewable energy is generated from natural resources such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides and geothermal heat. According to statistics, out of global energy consumption, renewable energy occupied about 18% in 2006, but there is much potential that could be exploited in the future. European Union leaders reached an agreement in principle in 2007 that they should produce 20% of their nation’s energy from renewable energy by 2020. Several days ago, the Korean government announced that they will make renewable energy as new growth engine of Korea. The Seoul metropolitan government has already pursued the development of renewable energy from several years ago.
As many countries recognized the importance of renewable energy, renewable energy would be developed as economical industry.

Dream recall

Every people dream but a few people remember their dream exactly after wakening up from the dream. It is said that 5 minutes after the end of a dream, people forget 50% of the dream. 10 minutes later, people forget 90% of its contents. Like regarding causes of dream, there are several theories about not remembering dream.
According to Freud, people forget dreams because consciousness prevents remembering dreams which contains people’s repressed thoughts and desires. Freud claimed peoples every action and thought are motivated by unconsciousness at some level but people tend to hold back their desires and impulses to live in a civilized society. He said dream is one way to express these hidden desires and impulses of the id but superego protects consciousness from desires of the unconscious when they wake up from dreams.
However, L. Strumpell who lived same era as Freud, interpreted the reason why people forget dreams. He said people usually learn and remember through an association and repetition. According to his theory, dreams are usually unique and vague, so it is natural that remembering dreams could be difficult. For example, when we have conversation with other people, if some phrase is difficult to understand, we could ask again to remember or understand it. However, we can’t go back to our dreams to experience something again.
Both theories sound reasonable but both of them have not scientifically tested. As science technology develops, someday the distinct cause about not remembering dreams will be unveiled.
